Internships
- Our paid internships, which typically last five to seven weeks, require a 5-7 hour time commitment per week. These hours include in-person and virtual workshops, offline assignments, and peer-mentor meetings. Throughout the internship, our YAAH research team works closely with our interns to build relationships, enhance their understanding of research concepts, and foster their professional growth.

About Us
- Youth and Allies Against Homelessness (YAAH) is a research team based in i4Y (Innovations for Youth), a Berkeley School of Public Health research center. YAAH is made up of youth community interns with lived experience of homelessness, undergraduate and graduate students who have experienced homelessness and/or who've demonstrated a commitment to ending homelessness.

YouthCount

You Count Project

You Count is a collaborative research project led by the California State Library's California Homeless Youth Project (CHYP). YAAH student investigators, based at Innovations for Youth (i4Y) at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, collaborated with CHYP to to connect with community-based organizations in *Continuums of Care throughout the state to better understand the needs of youth and young adults experiencing homelessness with the overarching goal of creating a more accurate estimate of this invisibilized population. . We collected qualitative and quantitative data to tell the story of youth and young adult homelessness in California. CHYP's Youth Homelessness Dashboard integrates publicly available data from HUD's Point in Time Count, California's Homelessness Data Integration System, and the California Department of Education. Our aim was to connect with community-based organizations in *Continuums of Care throughout the state to better understand the needs of youth and young adults experiencing homelessness with the overarching goal of creating a more accurate estimate of this invisibilized population. *Continuums of Care is a coordinated, community-wide system designed to prevent and end homelessness by connecting individuals and families with housing and support services. Defition is adopted from the National Alliance to End Homelessness.
