Training and supporting service providers, both working inside or outside the homelessness response system, is necessary for the effective implementation of outreach and early intervention strategies. Training can help staff better understand the context of youth experiencing homelessness, reduce stigma, develop empathy, learn about resources available for youth, better understand the youth homelessness response system, and help them develop or strengthen skills based on evidence-based approaches such as youth-positive development, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction.
